Enrollment Analysis: African American students comprised 76.8% of Quitman County's school district student body in 2022-23 school year

There were 228 African American students enrolled in Quitman County school district in the 2022-23 school year, 12.3% more than the previous year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

Data showed that Quitman County school district welcomed 297 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 76.8% of the student body to be the most represented ethnicity in the county's school district.

This is the only school district located within Quitman County, with its main office in Georgetown.

As of 2024, Georgia has an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 15:1, which is better than the national average of 16:1. The state has its best student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1 in pre-kindergarten and middle school grades, while high school has an average ratio of 17:1.
