Mitchell County Districts: Pelham City School District welcomed most students in 2022-23 school year

Pelham City School District had the highest enrollment among Mitchell County districts, welcoming 1,283 students during the 2022-23 academic year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51% of them were female, and 49% were male.

Data also showed that most of the students were Black, representing 56% of Pelham City School District's total enrollment.

Among the three districts in Mitchell County, Mitchell County Schools ranked second in enrollment numbers with 1,241 students, while State Charter Schools II- Baconton Community Charter School welcomed 832 students to be ranked third in the 2022-23 school year.

Pelham City School District generally encompasses schools within Mitchell County with its main office in Pelham.

As of 2024, Georgia has an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:15, which is better than the national average of 1:16. The state has its best student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1 in pre-kindergarten and middle school grades, while high school has an average ratio of 17:1.
