Pelham Elementary School in Mitchell County welcomed most students in 2022-23 school year

Pelham Elementary School had the highest enrollment among Mitchell County schools, welcoming 543 students during the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51% of them were female, and 49% were male.

Data also showed that most of the students were Black, representing 59% of the Pelham Elementary School total enrollment.

Among the three schools in Mitchell County, Pelham High School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 421 students, while Pelham City Middle School welcomed 319 students to be ranked third in the 2022-23 school year.

Pelham Elementary School is part of Pelham City School District, which generally encompasses schools within Mitchell County, with its main office in Pelham.

In the previous school year, Pelham Elementary School also had the highest number of students among Mitchell County schools.

As of 2024, Georgia has an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:15, which is better than the national average of 1:16. The state has its best student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1 in pre-kindergarten and middle school grades, while high school has an average ratio of 17:1.
