Two TCCHS students earned placements in Georgia’s 8th Congressional District’s Congressional Art Competition

11

Two Thomas County Central High School students earned placements in Georgia’s 8th Congressional District’s Congressional Art Competition. Sophomore Addison Weiss won first place, and senior Ashton Scully received second place.

The U.S. House of Representatives sponsors the art competition each spring, open to all high school students who reside or attend school in the district. According to the official press release, all entries had to be original in concept/design/execution, not exceed specific dimensions, and be in the form of a painting, drawing, collage, print, mixed media, computer-generated art or photography.

The U.S. Capitol will host Weiss’s artwork for an 11-month exhibition, starting in June. She’ll receive two plane tickets to Washington, D.C., for the national ceremony and exhibition ribbon-cutting. Also, should she apply and earn acceptance, she is eligible to receive a $3,000 per year admission scholarship to Savannah College of Art and Design.

The 8th Congressional District Office in Warner Robins will display Scully’s artwork for one year.
