Today, Congressman Andrew Clyde (GA-09) issued a statement after voting against H.R. 9747, a continuing resolution (CR) that extends Fiscal Year 2024 funding through December 20th. The CR passed the House with a vote of 341-82.

“As expected, Washington reverted back to its favorite playbook: kicking the can of government funding down the road to buy lawmakers more time to prepare a bloated Christmas omnibus,” said Clyde. “Yet Americans deserve better than the Swamp’s status quo stop-gap spending bill. House Republicans should have used our leverage to send the funding battle into — hopefully — Republican territory and to ensure only Americans vote in our elections, which is why I supported the 6-month CR + SAVE Act. While I’m certainly disappointed that we ended up with business as usual, I look forward to combating the Uniparty’s runaway spending and harmful policies when the funding fight resumes. After all, Northeast Georgians sent me to Congress to champion fiscal responsibility and to fix Washington’s broken system.”

Last week, Rep. Clyde voted for H.R. 9494, a 6-month CR that included the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. The SAVE Act, which passed the House with bipartisan support in July, would safeguard elections by requiring proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.
