Decatur County Commissioner Steve Brock | Decatur County Board of Commissioners
Steve Brock, incumbent member of the Decatur County Board of Commissioners, is seeking the Republican nomination for re-election to his seat representing District 2 for a four-year term. The primary election will be held on May 21.
Brock will face off in the GOP primary against Doug Griffin.
As the Post-Searchlight reported, Brock first took office as a Decatur County Commissioner on January 1, 2017, after winning his election in 2016.
Brock has more than 33 years of agricultural experience and currently owns and operates Steve Brock Farms. Healso has an extensive record of community involvement, having served on both the Farm Service Agency committee, the Decatur County Gin Company’s board of directors, and the Decatur County Farm Bureau’s board of directors. Additionally, Brock has been involved with the Mount Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department as a volunteer for over three decades.
Brock's bio also shares that he and his wife Sherry have two children and three grandchildren.
In a press release, RED PAC Chief Strategist Charlie Kolean endorsed Brock as a candidate that understood "the importance of protecting private property rights, ensuring government transparency, exercising fiscal responsibility, and fostering economic opportunity." Kolean expressed confidence that Brock's continued leadership will help Decatur County flourish.
According to the Decatur County Commission's website, there are six commissioners, each representing one district. One commissioner serves as chair, and one serves as vice chair.
According to the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG), responsibilities of the commissioners include preparing, reviewing, and setting the annual county budget, controlling ad maintaining county property, levying county taxes, and promoting economic and industrial development.
