Bobby Barber Jr., incumbent member of the Decatur County Board of Commissioners, is seeking the Republican nomination for re-election to his seat representing District 5 for a four-year term. The primary election will be held on May 21.
Per BallotReady.org, Barber is running for re-election in the GOP primary against Jason Williams.
As the Post-Searchlight reported, Barber was first elected to the Decatur Board of County Commissioners in November 2020.
Barber attended Bainbridge High School and the University of Georgia. He is self-employed.
In a press release, RED PAC Chief Strategist Charlie Kolean endorsed Barber as a candidate that understood "the importance of protecting private property rights, ensuring government transparency, exercising fiscal responsibility, and fostering economic opportunity." Kolean expressed confidence that Barber's continued leadership will help Decatur County flourish.
According to the Decatur County Commission's website, there are six commissioners, each representing one district. One commissioner serves as chair, and one serves as vice chair.
According to the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG), responsibilities of the commissioners include preparing, reviewing, and setting the annual county budget, controlling ad maintaining county property, levying county taxes, and promoting economic and industrial development.
