Last week, Congressman Andrew Clyde (GA-09) hosted a reception at his Gainesville District Office to honor five young men from Georgia’s Ninth District who received appointments to one of the United States Service Academies: U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. During the event, Congressman Clyde delivered congratulatory remarks and presented each nominee with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition.

“These five young men exemplify true leadership, academic excellence, impeccable character, and unwavering patriotism,” said Clyde. “It was an honor to nominate them, and I enjoyed celebrating their impressive accomplishments with their family, friends, and mentors. I wish Vince, Adam, Logan, Kyle, and Jayden the very best of luck in attending their prestigious military academies and in serving this great country. I’m confident they will continue making the Ninth District proud in their future endeavors.”

The following candidates received an appointment to one of the U.S. Service Academies:

Kyle Lee | Peachtree Ridge High School | U.S. Military Academy at West Point

Jayden Ivaniciuc | Buford High School | U.S. Air Force Academy

Vince Lamour-Johnson | Buford High School | U.S. Air Force Academy

Adam Glynn | North Gwinnett High School | U.S. Naval Academy

Logan Weaver | North Gwinnett High School | U.S. Merchant Marine Academy

Each year, Congressman Clyde nominates eligible candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.
