Congressman Andrew Clyde has demanded an audit and investigation of the U.S. Postal Service's recent consolidation process in North Georgia. In a letter to USPS Inspector General Tammy Hull, Rep. Clyde expressed his concerns about the impact of the consolidation on his constituents. He highlighted the disruption in mail delivery operations, stating, "The recent transition and consolidation of North Georgia's more localized PDCs into the one regional Atlanta GA RPDC and USPS' poor planning for this transition has extensively disrupted mail delivery operations in the region causing my constituents immense trouble and grief in their everyday lives."

Rep. Clyde also pointed out a significant increase in constituent communications regarding mail delays, noting, "Since the transition and consolidation of processing and distribution activities from local PDCs across North Georgia into the Palmetto facility on February 24, 2024, my office has received a nearly 90% increase in email and phone call messages from residents of North Georgia about USPS mail and package delays happening in the region."

The Congressman shared examples of how the USPS consolidation has affected Northeast Georgians, including financial losses, delays in receiving important items like medications, and threats to small businesses' credit reputations. He emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, "The current mail delivery situation throughout North Georgia is completely unacceptable... USPS must immediately divert resources to the region to prevent the ongoing suffering of my constituents."

Rep. Clyde criticized the Postal Service's handling of the consolidation process and demanded accountability for the hardships faced by his constituents. He emphasized the need for prompt action, stating, "Furthermore, it is clear that USPS' poor planning for the transition and consolidation of operations into the Palmetto facility is to blame for the extensive mail delays seen across the North Georgia region."

In conclusion, Congressman Clyde requested the USPS Office of Inspector General to conduct a thorough audit and investigation of the ongoing situation in North Georgia. He outlined specific requests for updates and a final report, aiming to address the issues faced by residents in the region.
