100% pass rate: Southern Regional Technical College announces nursing graduates excel in board exams

Recent graduates from the nursing program at Southern Regional Technical College in Tifton achieved a 100% pass rate on their National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). Every graduate successfully passed their board exam on their initial try, surpassing the national average for nursing programs according to a press release by the school.

Spring semester graduates from Southern Regional Technical College's (SRTC) Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program in Tifton achieved a 100% passage rate on their National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), surpassing the national average for nursing programs. The Tifton cohort was the first to test under a revised exam plan, assessing clinical judgment and decision-making abilities, reflecting their preparedness for future nursing roles. Every graduate cleared their board exam on their initial attempt.

In a press release by Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC), this Tifton cohort were the first to receive a newly revised exam format, tailored to evaluate their clinical judgment and decision-making skills using innovative question types. This updated approach incorporates practical scenarios to assess crucial decision-making, judgment, and prioritization abilities vital for nurses in their future roles.

According to The Princeton Review, the NCLEX-RN, acronym for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (RN), is a computerized adaptive test mandated for nursing graduates to pass in order to obtain their license as a Registered Nurse in both the US and Canada. The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is the authority in charge of updating the NCLEX, and they achieve this by conducting a comprehensive analysis of current nursing practices.

The press release by Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) goes onto further stating that, "...most of the graduates have already secured in-field job placement." The graduates secured positions at various healthcare facilities including South Georgia Medical Center, Colquitt Regional Medical Center, Southwell Medical, to Mayo Clinic’s PCU in Jacksonville Fl.

According to the press release by Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC), Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) offers over 150 programs for career readiness, including degrees, diplomas, and certificates. They have 28 general education courses transferable to various Georgia institutions, with instructional sites in eleven Southwest Georgia counties.

SRTC’s Dean of Nursing Bobbie Hester, RN, MSN said in the SRTC press release: "We are ecstatic about the 100% passage rate for the 2023 Tifton cohort. SRTC nursing faculty have worked diligently to prepare the ASN students for the new test item types and improve critical judgment and decision making. The dedication and hard work of the faculty and students attribute to the program’s success. Our faculty are dedicated to the student’s success in the nursing program. Our students enter the workforce prepared to provide quality nursing care."
