Georgia Southern softball has returned to Beautiful Eagle Field for the Spring 2023 campaign! All throughout the season, we'll be spotlighting our seniors with our 5 Questions segment. Next up is pitcher Kastin Belogorska!Kastin joined the Eagles last year from Liberty University, where she pitched for two seasons. Last year, she appeared in a team-high 32 games, making 19 starts, and picked up the win in the Eagles' victory over No. 23 Louisiana on March 19! A native of nearby Eden, Ga., Kastin was a two-time Region Pitcher of the Year at South Effingham HS. Currently she is pursuing her bachelor's degree in middle grades education at Georgia Southern.

1) What made you decide to come to Georgia Southern to continue your softball career?

I wanted a place that felt like home. For me, Georgia Southern is pretty much my hometown school. My family is only 30 minutes away. Transferring, I knew I wanted to be as close to home as possible, and the good Lord blessed me with the opportunity to play at Georgia Southern. Playing here has far exceeded my expectations, and I am so happy for the opportunity I have been given to represent Eagle nation daily. I love this program, I love this school and I love the tradition. It truly is home to me.

2) What's one thing that people don't know about you?

I am named after fishing. My dad has loved fishing his entire life. When it came to naming me, they threw the idea of Casting out (like casting a rod and reel). To make it girlier, my mom wanted to add a K instead of a C, and so my name became Kastin.

3) If you weren't playing softball, what other sport do you think you might play collegiately?

Probably collegiate fishing. I really have no other athletic abilities. I never played any other sports growing up, but I think my dad would have taken me under his wing and made me his tournament fishing partner if I had not played softball. On breaks, I will go fishing with him or fish in a tournament or two here and there with him. However, if I did not play softball, all the time that I would've had not practicing growing up could have probably been spent fishing.

4) Which team member has the best sense of humor?

Courtney [Ball] or Dejah [Mills] for sure. It's a toss up between those two. Practice would not be as fun without them.

5) In a movie about your life, what actor or actress would play you?

I'm not entirely sure about this one, but a lot of people thought I looked like Shirley Temple when I was growing up because of my curly hair. After asking my teammates, however, they said that I reminded them of Kristen Bell, who is the voice of Anna on Frozen. They also all seemed to say that I kind of act like any of the Disney princesses, "since I am so happy and nice." *laughs* They're so crazy!
