The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has selected Savannah, Georgia and Tiger Arena as the official site of the 2022-2023 SIAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament, presented by Cricket, the conference announced Tuesday in a press release.

"I am excited for Savannah State University to serve as the host for the 2022-2023 SIAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament, presented by Cricket," said SIAC Commissioner Anthony Holloman. "After exploring multiple options for this year's tournament, I believe that Savannah will provide the best combination of facilities and cultural engagement from a student-athlete perspective while being able to accommodate our fans, alumni, and staff."

The tournament was held in Rock Hill, S.C. for the past three years. Other prior host cities for the tournament included Birmingham, Ala. and Atlanta, Ga.

"We are excited to host the SIAC 2022-23 Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament in Tiger Arena," said Savannah State President Kimberly Ballard-Washington. "Savannah is a perfect fit given its affluent sports history. We are excited to welcome SIAC fans and students to our great city!"

Savannah, a quintessential Southern city located on Georgia's coast, has a long and colorful history from its establishment in 1733 to present time. Consistently named the "Hostess City," the coastal town has a world-class reputation for hospitality, historic facades that are vibrant, forward-thinking residents, a progressive government, and an innovative business community.

The 2022-2023 SIAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament is slated for Saturday, February 25 through Saturday, March 4 and will showcase 15 men's teams and 14 women's teams in a centralized location.

"We are grateful to Savannah State University and the City of Savannah for hosting our 2022-23 Basketball Tournament," said SIAC Board Chair and Fort Valley State President Dr. Paul Jones. "The city of Savannah will provide our student-athletes and fans with a great tournament experience."

"On behalf of the 28,000 Savannah residents employed in our hospitality community, thank you for choosing Savannah as your host city for the 2023 SIAC Men's & Women's basketball tournament," said Jeff Hewitt of Visit Savannah. "Savannah State University is an excellent facility, and we look forward to watching some great basketball."
