College Sports Communicators, formerly CoSIDA, has revealed that Austin Hardy and Jona Kafka were both named to the Academic All-District team, announced by the organization on Tuesday. Eligble student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% of games played in the previous season, must have held a 3.5 GPA or higher, and have been with their program for at least one year.
Austin Hardy, a sophomore from Huntersville, N.C., earned the award with a 3.76 GPA and having competed in 11 matches for the Eagles this season. Hardy is an exercise science major who was named to the Georgia Southern Dean's List for the 2021-22 school year.
Jona Kafka, a sophomore from Hamburg, Germany, earned the award with a 3.93 GPA and competed in all 16 matches for the Eagles this season, starting 13 of those. Kafka is an interdisciplinary studies major who was named to the Georgia Southern President's List for the 2021-2022 school year.
These two players will advance to the national balloting stage, where they will have a chance to be voted Academic All-Americans. Voting begins on November 15 and ends on November 22, with the All-American teams being announced on December 7.
