The City of Camilla is eager to announce that we will be launching three new programs for the City’s youth! All of these programs will provide the tools needed to become an effective leader and help shape the future of our city. City council approved a Camilla Youth Council, Youth Employment Program, and Internship Program at last night’s meeting.
A City of Camilla Youth Council will be established to provide the City’s youth with the opportunity to participate in the City’s decision making process. The selected youth will have the chance to create projects and activities for the community, learn the sense of civic responsibility, and be the voice of the teenage population.
Our Youth Employment Program is scheduled to begin in October of this year. This program will provide local teens the proper skills and experiences in a real life work environment.
The City partnered with the Mitchell County School System to support and participate in their new Internship Program. The internship program is a part of the new Southwest Georgia College & Career Academy located at the Mitchell County High School.
City Council knows the importance of investing in our youth, who are our future, and by developing these programs they will be building the workforce pipeline for our community.
