Madison Brown Joins Volleyball Coaching Staff

42

Georgia Southern volleyball coach Chad Willis announced today that Madison Brown has joined his coaching staff as a volunteer assistant.

Brown wrapped up her four-year career last season and graduated in May with a degree in marketing. She ranks fifth on the school's all-time assist with 3,005 and posted 649 career digs, 101 kills, 120 blocks and 85 aces in 90 matches. Brown was very active on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee throughout her career and served as the organization's president as a senior.

"We're thrilled to have Madison joining us as a volunteer assistant this upcoming season," said Willis. "Madison has been one of the center pieces of our culture the last three years, and her commitment and dedication to excellence will continue to serve as a great example for our student-athletes on and off the court. In addition to being a great role model, Madison will add tremendous value to our setters and attackers given her experience and growth within our program. We're looking forward to Madison's leadership - she brings great perspective and a wonderful personality to our staff."

Georgia Southern finished the 2021 campaign with a 17-11 record, the most wins for the program since the 2013 season, and their nine Sun Belt victories were the most since joining the league in 2014.

"My love for Georgia Southern and this program is difficult to put into words," said Brown. "I'm so grateful for how this place prepared and equipped me throughout my journey as a student-athlete. I couldn't be more excited for the chance to stay another year, in this new role, and continue to experience the growth and potential of this team under Chad, Taylor (Sherwin), and E (Efrain Negron). The people are what make this place special, and I am just incredibly blessed for the opportunity to continue to learn and grow alongside everyone here."

GS returns 15 letterwinners and welcomes newcomers Kirsten Barrett, Cason Callaway, Emily Jarome, Maggie Sale and Grace Underwood to the 2022 roster. The Eagles are slated to open the 2022 season by hosting the Bash in the Boro Aug. 26-27.
