Baseball Sweeps Point Univ JV 8-4 & 13-3; Waller With 2 HR's, 6 RBI

Andrew College issued the following announcement on March 2

The Andrew College baseball team swept the visiting Point University JV on Monday night, rallying for 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to take the 8-4 win in the opener, then mercy run-ruled the SkyHawks 13-3 in the nightcap, first behind Austin Waller's power surge, then his walk-off 2 RBI single in the bottom of the 6th inning. The pair of wins raises the Tigers record to 12-9 on the season.

In game one, Blake Falor paced the Tiger offense, going 2 for 3 with a double, and 5 RBI, Brent Burford singled in a pair of runs, Mitch Cowan and Barron Northorp each went 2 for 3, and Dekel Williams doubled in a run, while Logan Byerly picked up his 1st win of the year, fanning 2 in 2 innings of relief. 

Waller touched off a a pair of blasts in the nightcap, a 3-run drive that just stayed fair in the 2nd inning, then a high-arching solo homer to left-center in the 5th inning, before ripping a 2-RBI single in the bottom of the 6th inning to end the 13-3 walk-off win. He ended the night 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, a pair of runs scored and 6-RBI. Trevor Gruskza went 2 for 4 with a double, a run scored and 4-RBI, JT Whatley was 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI, and Cowan went 2 for 4 with a triple and a run scored, as the Tigers pounded out 11 hits. Starter Garrett Green struck out 6 in 4.0 innings of work to pick up his 3rd win of the year.

Andrew has back to back single nine-inning games against Wallace-Dothan (AL) coming up this Friday and Saturday. Friday's game is in Dothan at 2:00 pm. The Govenors will be at Hord on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
