Town of Bluffton Partners with CFL to Distribute Grants to Pandemic-Affected Nonprofits

12

Town of Bluffton issued the following announcement on March 2

The Town of Bluffton, working with the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry (CFL), will be distributing up to $20,000 grants to individual non-profits which were adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and whose representatives serve low-to-moderate-income residents of Bluffton and/or underserved communities.

The maximum amount which each organization can be awarded is $20,000. Bluffton Town Council set aside $520,000 for this grant program from the federal funds received by Bluffton via the American Recovery Plan Act.

"It is the desire and directive of Bluffton's Town Council to use a portion of Bluffton's American Recovery Plan funds to assist those organizations who are on the front lines of improving the quality of life of our community's residents," Town Manager Stephen Steese said. "We are all aware many residents, and the organizations which assist them, took financial hits during the pandemic and we are hoping this approximately half million dollars will help reverse that trend."

How to apply for a non-profit grant:

To be eligible, non-profit organizations must have a 501(c)(3) designation and have a physical location in the Town of Bluffton and provide services to low-and-moderate residents of the Town of Bluffton and/or assist underserved communities.

An advisory committee comprised of community leaders, Town of Bluffton and CFL representatives will review grant applications to determine grant awards. The first grant cycle will start immediately, with the application deadline of April 11, 2022. Additional applications cycles will be added if funds remain available.

Grant guidelines and the link to grant application is available on the CFL's website.

If you need further details about the grant process, please email Debbie Cahoon, vice president for community investment or call 843-681-9100.
