7

Andrew College Athletic Department issued the following announcement on Feb. 11

The Andrew College baseball team rode a pair of complete game starts from Will Sims and Seth Crowe to knock off Central Alabama Community College (CACC) 3-1 and 2-1 on the road Thursday night, evening their season record at 4-4. It was the fourth consecutive quality outing from the Tiger staff, and the second in a row for both Sims and Crowe, as they combined last Saturday to beat NJCAA #1-ranked San Jacinto College 7-2, with Sims picking up the win and Crowe notching the save.

Sims allowed just 3 hits and an unearned run, while fanning 3, to earn his 2nd win of the season, lowering his ERA to 0.63. He faced just 4 batters over the minimum in his first start since being named the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) Pitcher of the Week, last week. Brayden Eavenson singled in a pair of runs, Trevor Gruskza had an RBI single, and Brent Burford doubled and scored twice to pace a Tiger attack that was limited to just four hits, enough for Sims in the 3-1 victory.

Crowe, in his third appearance and first start, scattered 3 hits and walked none, while allowing an uearned run and striking out 3 enroute to the first collegiate win of his career in the 2-1 win. He has yet to yield an earned run in 9 innings pitched and has also converted both of his save opportunites this season. Mitch Cowan led the Tiger offense, going 2 for 2 with a run scored and an RBI, and Blake Falor made his season debut, singling in a run, as Andrew turned 5 hits and 4 walks into a pair of runs.

The Tigers are back at the Hord Athletic Complex on Saturday for another doubleheader against CACC, first pitch is at 2:00 pm.         \
