Dougherty Comprehensive High School recently issued the following announcement.
The Dougherty County School System has become of the first school system in the Southwest Georgia Region to offer a Fine Arts Diploma Seal to its students, state department of Education officials said Wednesday.
The seal will be granted to students who complete the requirements of a Fine Arts Pathway. In addition to their pathway, students will be required to engage in one additional fine arts or creative industry focus course, fine arts-related extracurricular activities and community service, and the presentation of a Fine Arts Capstone Project.
According to a post on the Georgia Department of Education's Fine Arts Facebook page, "The Fine Arts Diploma Seal is a signal to employers and higher education institutions that a student is prepared to participate in the creative economy which represents a combined $62.5 billion in total economic impact, $37 billion in revenue, and 5% of all employment in the state of Georgia!"
