Mitchell County’s School Districts student body comprised mostly of African American students in 2023-24 school year

The majority of students in Mitchell County School Districts were African American in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

Among the 2,385 students attending Mitchell County schools, 69.1% were African American. White students were the second most common ethnicity, making up 21.3% of Mitchell County student body.

In the previous school year, African American students were also the most common ethnicity in Mitchell County School Districts, representing 69.3% of the student body.

Pelham City School District had the most diverse student body in the county, which included Asian, African American, Hispanic, multiracial, and white.

In the 2023-24 school year, the total number of students enrolled in school districts in the county dropped 5.5% when compared to the previous year.
