In 2025, Georgia legislators approved updates to school attendance laws, prohibiting expulsion solely due to absenteeism while introducing additional reporting requirements and aligning with initiatives allowing alternative diploma pathways.

By 2026, Georgia’s student-to-teacher ratio averaged about 14:1, outpacing the national average ratio of 15:1.
